About the Photographer
I have loved photography since I was 17, when my Grandfather handed down his favorite 35mm Voightlander camera to me, which I used on a trip to the British Isles that summer.
My interest grew until after 2 years of normal ? college, I moved to California to attend a Photography Academy full time for one year, and took History of Photography courses at UCLA as well. After working in still photography for about 6 years, I began doing Video Production and soon found employment in every phase of production: Audio, Lighting, Camera, Directing, and Editing.
I then became involved in TV News, working exclusively in TV for over 15 years, at local L.A. stations KABC TV - Ch. 7, KCBS / KCAL - Ch 2 / 9, and KTTV Ch 11. As a TV News Photographer, I was a member of 3 Unions; IATSE, NABET, and IBEW. My responsibilities included ensuring we always had professional photography & sound of course; but also that we had obtained all of the interviews, B-Roll, Stand-Ups, Graphics, and other elements we needed to produce a great story.
I would edit the raw footage and collected material in the TV News Van, and send the package back to the station. Then I ran the Micro-Wave Truck broadcasting a "Live Shot" from our location. The reporter would introduce the story, and the studio would run the piece I had cut a few minutes before. For over 15 years I photographed, directed talent on, and edited thousands of stories, which were broadcast throughout So. California to millions of people.
TV Photojournalism is a very demanding career, filled with hard work, long hours, and high stress. But I was able to see and do so many unusual things, and I met a lot of interesting people, (famous and not so famous), that I never would have met otherwise. The added benefit of having done such a wide variety of news stories is that I have photographed every kind of subject, and in every type of situation.
So I can fulfill any photographic need you may have, be it still or video photography, and vow to deliver the most beautiful images and videos possible, so as to surpass your highest expectations.
